Map-Source-Mapsforge

Mapsforge-Openstreetmap-Vectormaps:

The easiest way to use a suitable vectormap in Cachebox. These maps are created in a special vector format from the maps – respectively the map database – of OpenStreetMap and are then available offline.  This map can be stored into the default directory /cachebox/Repository/Maps or into any user-defined directory (e.g. onto the external SD-Card). The directory can be chosen in the Cachebox-settings.

Important:

  • After changing directory paths a restart is required.

  • In order to select the offline maps, you need to select the map type (tap on the map icon – then „Map Type“). If the correct path is set in the settings, you can select the offline map here.

Advantages of the Mapsforge-Maps:

  • quite up-to-date

  • Vector format means small amount of data

  • Separate regions are available for download, which again reduces the used card space.

  • The map can be displayed optimally in every zoom level

Map Sources:

  • Mapsforge (without contour lines)

  • OpenandroMaps (with contour lines): Maps from Openandromaps are Mapsforge- mapsbut can display hiking trails, bike paths etc. better than the Mapsforge- maps and contain contour lines. For that purpose, you need   Themes .

  • Locus (without contour lines) =  Substitutional map source in case Mapsforge won't work.

From Rev. 839 (Android Version) on, Mapsforge maps of version 0.3.0 must be used. Older maps (0.2.4) are no longer supported.
